This is a painting I did from a still life that i had arranged this summer. I photographed it then but didn't do this painting til just recently, so it is from one of the photos I took.
I chose the name Setup because it came into my mind and I like it.   Please enjoy this summer setup and if you can please comment.   Thank you for viewing.

Last Light

This painting is based on another of our photos from our trip to the gulf coast this summer. The star of this painting is the sky as the last rays of sun hit the water as night decends.  Please enjoy this and feel free to comment.   Thanks everone for viewing.

California Dreaming

Boy it seems forever since I've added a painting to this blog.  I do apologize and plan to keep this as current as I can from now on.   Here is a painting I did for the online workshop I have been taking.  The workshop is in the The Complete Artist and run by Richard Robinson.  For October we have been doing sunrises and sunsets in harmonious colors.   I chose Yellow Orange/Blue Violet for my colors in here with a just a touch of Cad yellow light.  Yellow Orange was made by using Yellow Ocre and white with the Blue violet added in to make it darker.  For the Blue Violet I used Ultra Bl, Cad red light and Al Crim with just a touch of Yellow Ocre to gray it down.   Please enjoy and feel free to comment.

Cherokee Autumn

This is the painting that I will be putting in the window of our gallery  which is located in The Market Common, a new business area near Myrtle Beach, SC.  It will stay there the whole month of September.  I based this painting on a photo provided by Neil Empsall, then completely changed the season from summer to fall and the location of the stream to Cherokee, NC.  I decided on Cherokee since we had a stream very much like this running behind our hotel room.   Thanks for looking and comments always welcome.

A Street In Charleston

This scene is from one of my photos I took when I was in Charleston.  Sorry I don't know the street's name since I believe this was from the car window as we were driving through.  In the background you can see St.Philip's Episcopal Church, which is one of the oldest in this city.   I painted this for Workshop 23
on the Complete Artist Site.   This workshop dealt with painting street scenes.  Thanks everyone for viewing.

Seascape #1

I had an older painting that I was not crazy about, so I put it back up on the easel and reworked it.  I completely changed the  whole painting starting with the sky, the water and the sand.  I have been taking photos of the waves and watching them when at the shore.  So with this knowledge I painted this picture and I'm really happy with how it turned out.  I hope this lets all of you have the feeling of a day at the beach and how enjoyable it is.   Thanks for viewing  and please comment.

My Mothers Tablecloth

I had an old painting that I did not like so I sanded it down as much as possible then gessoed over it.  I used some of a photo by Charlie Capuano from Paint My Photo and then my own cloths.   The blue and white one was my mothers so thus the title.   I was also in this painting playing with warm and cool whites.  Please enjoy this painting and thanks for viewing.  Also would love to hear from you.

A LION

First let me thank Gary Jones from Paint My Photo for this photo of a lion.   Then let me thank Stephie for her demo on our Painting Friends Forum.    I had a wonderful time painting her and using my watercolors again.  I painted this with a large brush #26 and dropped different colors in it.  I hope everyone is having a wonderful day and thanks for viewing.

A Quiet Moment

This is a painting from my photo of the sun going down over the intercoastal waterway in Florida.  It is oil done on gallery wrap stretched canvas.   I loved the way the clouds were coming in as the sun was beginning to set. I hope everyone can relate to the stillness of this time of day.  Appreciate everyone viewing this and thanks.

Three In A Row

Jim and I went down to the south end of Pawley's Island a couple of weeks ago to photograph birds.  A ton of fish washed up on shore so there were plenty of birds to see.  Sadly we missed the eagles who had been coming to feed.  However Jim did get this one great shot of 3 gulls waiting in the water for the fish to arrive.   I really like the bright colors I used  in this painting it gives it such a joyful filling.  I hope it brings a smile to you and a little reminder of the beach on a sunny day.   Thanks for viewing

Egrets In Trees

Well I am proud of myself because this is my third new entry into my blog this  January, so I am working toward becoming a daily blogger again.   This painting is from one of my photos of our trip to Magnolia Plantation outside of Charleston.  It was a beautiful summer day when we were there so I hope this shows it.
Thanks for looking in and love to read your comments.

WINTER SHENANDOAH VALLEY

On our way to Pennsylvania for Christmas we will go through the Shenandoah Valley heading north. One winter this area had a large snow storm right before we drove through.   This is from a photo we had taken of the area.   I took a lot of liberties with this picture, I changed the time of day to sunset and the road is now a creek.  I love the way the oranges and purples play off each other and I was real happy with the reflections in the creek also.  I enjoyed painting this, I hope you will enjoy viewing it.  Thanks everyone.

A Challenge Orange

Oil on Linen Gallery Wrapped Canvas  6"by 6"

This is the painting I did for the Orange Challenge in the oil group of Paint My Photos   I used the photo provide by Lillian Bell titled Copper Kettle with Oranges
http://paintmyphoto.ning.com/photo/copper-kettle-with-oranges

I like this photo because of the way the oranges reflected in the kettle.  I think I caught the shine of the kettle and am happy with it     Thanks for viewing and please leave a comment

JOY

Happy New Years everyone.    Here is my first post for 2013.  I named this Joy since it looks as though
the trees are singing with the warmth of the sun.   My one resolution is to post in here more often this year as I plan to do a lot more painting.   I hope everyone can feel some sun on them today.   Thanks for viewing and  hope to read some comments.
