Violas

 Hey
Sadly all my company has left and the  house is very quiet.  This painting I started last week after I watched a video on Youtube done by my Painting Friend Ann. I became so inspired to paint and the granddaughters were watching tv, so I sat down and started this.  I finished it yesterday after everyone left. It is from a photo provided by another Painting Friend Ruth for our Monthly Mindbender.
This is watercolor done on Arches 140 cp block 8"by 10"
I think it speaks of summer and happiness.  I want to thank everyone for looking and please add  a comment as I love reading them.

  1. Nora, I see why the photo was called a mindbender:-) More complex than a jigsaw puzzle.

The colors do speak of summer and joy. You did a wonderful job on this delightful painting. I also admire how you painted the leaves.

  4. I love how you show the highlights so vividly in your work. I struggle with that all the time, and you make it look so easy! Beautiful!

  6. Nora, you just have such gorgeous control of those watercolors! Are you painting on dry paper once you get your background in? This is beautiful! And now I know what violas look like!

  7. Hi Autumn Yes I painted this on dry paper. I drew the flowers on first, then for each flower I wet the paper and dropped in color. After it dried I put more color on to darken them. I did the leaves the same way, for the background I wet the paper and just dropped in different colors. Thank you for liking this.
