Macaw

This painting is from a photo provided by Cindi, one of our members in Painting Friends. The painting was done for our Friday Foto Challenge, where one member posts a photo he or she would like to paint. Then we have the option to paint it also. I have recently began using Daniel Smith's watercolors and like the brightness in the paints. This was done looser than I usally paint but like the effect it has with the whites being left to show the light coming in. Thanks Cindi for sharing this photo with us.

  2. Hi Nora;
    Thanks for stopping by my blog today and for your lovely words. I do appreciate it. And your parrot is beautiful. He looks ready to leap off the branch at any time. I love how you maintained the light. I also agree with Krista. The colors are brilliant.

  4. Thankyou Krista, Ross and Christiane for your comments. One color I used in here was Daniel Smith's Pthalo Blue which I really didn't use before.

  5. Nora, leaving the white of the paper show through for your lights brings a wonderful liveliness to your painting. . . . Nora
